Dear …,
I am
writing this letter just to tell you about events which took place in 2012. I still can’t believe that I haven’t seen you
for more than a year…
Since
October 2011 I have a new job. I like it more than my previous one. Less papers, more chatting with people (and
even sometimes in English or French). You know I really missed it when I was
working in the office.
Due to my job I haven’t noticed how fast the first 4 months there passed…
I
feel really guilty… ‘Cause I didn’t attend any family parties… When it was your
birthday, I was working. When it was my mom’s birthday, the same. I even
celebrated my own birthday not with family and friends, but at work. Well, it
was fun, but… When I came home after work, I just felt asleep…
But there
is no birthday without a cake!
I decided
to write about negative things in the beginning… Both of them were really hard
for my parents… The first – the death of friend of our family… I still can’t
believe that uncle Maxim is not with us… The second – the death of my
grandmother… It was really hard… And I still can remember those funerals… But we are trying our best to move on…
In January,
I had staff party. Well, it was… boooring!
My first
picture with my colleagues…
February,
March, April…
May… After
that month I can proudly say “I did it! I survived!” Passing exams in the
university, passing French exam + preparing to each of them… + we had soo much
work! Of course, I didn’t sleep enough.. I didn’t have time to go out.. Or even
to stay at home doing nothing… But I passed all exams with flying colours.. Or
something like this.
June… Sorry for not attending your first
anniversary… You know why…
July, my
first trip to St.Petersburg. I really wanted to get there as far as it was only
possible… But when I wandering the
center everything kept reminding me of my last summer visit… When I was in
St.P.with David, Camille and Nicole (I’m pretty sure that you remember them). I
miss every moment from that trip…
It was the
first time when I’ve been to St.P. and saw “white nights”.
00-10
Nevskiy prospect. Amazing!
July-August,
my first vacation. We decided to go to NY! I fell in love with this city. Once
more! I miss that time… Waking up, wearing only swimming suit and a skirt… No
make-up… Just me, my book and camera… Watching “The Bing Bang theory” with Alex
. He is still as naught as he was the last time you saw him. But I like him.
My uncle
told me a story about your first car…
August,
back to Moscow… and I made up my mind to become a butler… (Sounds weird,
innit?) I realized that I want something… more. A new challenge. Let’s name it
this way. I was so surprised when my boss said “oh, thanks God, I thought you
would never ask about this!”
According
to documents I’m butler since September 2012, but actually that’s not so… Even
now sometimes I work in lounge. I can proudly say since I started working in
lounge I’ve trained 5 girls. Most of them just had practice in my hotel. But a girl who was my last trainee will
become a good attendant. I feel it.
Party time :)
September,
October… I was waiting for some big changes.
November.
My second trip to St.Petersburg. The second time it was different… That trip
wasn’t about going from one museum to another… But It was about enjoying every
moment there and staying in R. It was great!
But when I
was back to Moscow, I had to face with so many troubles…
December. I
would call it “the last minute month”. Everything that I did or decided not to
do was a spontaneous decision… No plans. I didn’t have time to do everything as
I planned…
This year I
met so many people. Thanks to work.
My
colleagues… The most amazing colleagues in the world. Trust me! Each and every
is so different… In hard situations their support and their jokes helped me to
get through everything!
I won’t
tell you stories about each of them, but … they are great!
Guests.
Different nationalities, different companies, different ages… Some of them were
really nice, some were the reasons of my tears (yeah… even this had happened). Working
in lounge I saw so many personalities… When I told some stories to my friends,
they said that I should write a book.
But out of
a huge list of people with whom I got acquainted in lounge this year, I would like to highlight some of them.
·
Jason
from B.company. My first cocktail. My first notification from supervisor.
Talking too much with a guest. I still remember when I made him 2 triple
espresso + 1 triple espresso take away (before his night shift). The next day
his colleagues asked me what did I do… ‘Case he was working non-stop and nobody could stop him.
·
Mr.S.from
P.company. White wine , room service orders and many stories about his wife and
his children. When I had time it was nice to chat with him. In summer we hadn’t
seen each other for a while. But it was so cute… When he saw me, he shouted my
name and ran towards me.
·
A
couple from States. They stayed only for a week. But every evening they spent
in lounge. It was funny to found out that the week-end we would spend in the
same hotel. Received a thank-you letter from them. It was so touching!
And I
sent them some sweets in response.
A woman from P.company. Every evening
for a week we chatted a bit. She overheard an awkward conversation
between and my colleague. She left a thank-you note to me + filled the
questionnaire and wrote about “the excellent service in lounge”. It was sooo nice!
- J. from J.company. Actually everyone from this company isin good relations with our department. With one of them we had a big dispute about "French ploiticians". But J.I like the most. We can talk a lot abot photography. I still remeber how he was trying his best to solve one "unpleasant situation".
- Mr.M.from O.W.company. Room service orders. Every evening. A nice guy whom I was always happy to see in lounge. Sometimes I was REALLY talkative with him. Dunno why. Thanks to him this year Halloween party was amazing! I remeber how I was surprised to see him near the metro when i was on my way to work. What a pleasant suprise!
Nothing motivates me more than reliable colleagues and great guests!;)
By the way, this year I was nominated as the best employee.
This year was full of different events. Every day was diffenrent, but at the same time every day was the same...
I can't wait something new to happen this new year... 2013. I hope it will be great!
In the end i would like to mentiona that... we still miss you! Sometimes it was hard without you (and even sometimes it's still hard). We love you!
Yours sincerely,
Alyona
P.s. Year 2012- so many different outfits :)
