4 day in NY

this day my mom and i spent walking from one museum to another (with some stops at cafes and restaurants, bien sur:)).
the first stop- Grand Central Terminal.
It was close to subway and it was easy to find.
You can think of so mnay films and cartoons (yeah, "Madagaskar")) where this terminal was mentioned.
So when i entered the building i had a strong deja-vu. As if i had been here before...
There were many tourists taking pics of anything that they see (and i was one of them :)).
We tried to find restaurants which were mentioned in our guide book. But all we could see were some really awesome shops.
Finally we found a huge hall with restaurants everywhere.. We picked one restaurant. OMG! why we were so "lucky"? 'cause the food was tasteless at all... and the drink was so awful!
On our away out we finally saw some trains :)
The next stop- Crysler Building.
We almost missed it.:) When we were passing by we thought "oh, what a nice building.. wait.. it's it!"
We decided to have a stop in some little cafe ...with frozen yogurt.
Rather tasty i must admit.
But the most important place in NY for our family is UN building.
The reason is simple: in the begining of 70-s my grandpa used to work here... For 5 years.... and this place brings up some good memories... And i'm really proud of my grandpa....
Some pics from inside

Security Council

We had an excursion there:my mom had it in Russian, me - in English. At the same time there was a French group. Who knew that they have the same ticket as we have. "cause my mom said "hi" to them and later they started chatting with us ... in French :) they thought that we are French. and i was surprised that i was able to chat with them...
Later i found out that in my group out of 15 people only 3 were from States.my guide was surprised when i said that i'm from Russia. "why didn't you take Russian tour?"- " 'cause this one is more fun ('cause i wanted audio guide, not private one- that's what i really wanted to say)
This is my guide. But frankly speaking the excursion was quite nice...
It was soo hot outside that we had to stop in some shops before walking some more miles..
We wanted to go to Museum of photography which was close to us. We had a stop 2 Cafe 45 (Good place with tasty and quite cheap food).
Than we saw gift shop... OMG! What? museum?which museum?
We were getting closer to Times Sq... and it's hard to describe our reaction when we saw it!
First of all we went to Forever 21 where we bought some things (awesome white dress, palette for 10 $ and some more things :))
Next one - Disney shop which was so great but expensive...

After all we understood that we were tired and it was high time to find subway... on our way to subway we saw so many strange people
..and we saw our image on the screen

What a great place! But we had to get back home (20 stops..)

When we came home there was a tasty Italian pizza...
What a day!

3 day in NY

i woke up without any desire to go anywhere or to do anything. my parents decided to go to the beach and i decided to stay.. one hour later: "hy would i stay in bed if i'm in NY". and i made up my mind to go somewhere. no matter where. Greenwhich village... sounds nice.
i felt really scared going somewhere by subway.
that's why i went straight... 18 stops
the first thing which i saw after walking for 5 mins was a bookstore with some cheap books.
i've spent there almost 2 hours and i wished i could stay longer. but if i bought many books, they would be too heavy to carry back home:(
the next stop - shop with costumes! 2 floors!!
OMG!! i had so many ideas for the next Halloween party...maybe Hermione outfit)
Staying in NY i haven't been to McDo. oh, such a pitty!!
So i had to get there and try something new. Pounder (or something like this), french fries, strawbeery lemonade and mcflurry rolo. mm.. tasty.. but awful service!
after sitting there a bit i went to Washington Pl passing NYU.
Amazing place.
There was a great fountain where people were bathing! Awesome!
Also, if you remember one film "When Harry Met Sally", there was one arc. it's said that everything starts from it.
After all i "visited" some shops. Not mentioning how much money did i spend!
In the evening had a really bad mood..(

2 day in NY

Jet lag.. the only reason why i woke up at 4.30 am yesterday.I didn't want to sleep anymore. That's why i decided to go to the shore and see the sunrise. Kinda romantic. But it started to rain.
That's why we had to get back home as fast as it was only possible. But on my way i've noticed sooo many cats and most of them were very thin. With big grey eyes.
That day we had lots of things to see... First of all we had to get to Manhatan.
We had to find the road to Queensboro bridge.
That's when i realise that it's impossible to drive here if you don't know the city.
30 mins later we finally found that bridge.
When we were in Manhatan i was speechless. That was the true beaty. Big houses, tiny streets, many yellow taxes, many shops and.... dozens of people:)
I love this sign. I wish we had something like this in Moscow. (p.s. but is seems that in the evening nobody cares about this sign here)
Than there was a next problem: where to park a car. in the morning.on sunday. We didn't find a place and we decided to get to parking.
We bought tickets on cruise to Satue of Liberty (there was one more stop to Ellis Island, but we were so tired that we decided to get back to Manhatan after Statue of Liberty).
Well, if I say that it was overcrowded there, it wouldn't show you the real picture.i thought there were HUNDREDS of tourists....
The biggest challenge: true to take a picture with the view on Statue of Liberty without a guy who is taking a picture of himself with the same background :)
I was soo tired when we got to Satue of Liberty... it was so hot that i could feel my make-up melting lol and everywhere the was a crowd of people. i had only one desire: to get out of here as fast as it's only possible...But i found one pros: awesome gift shop!
After visiting Staue of Liberty we wandered the streets...
And than we realised that we forgot where we had parked our car.I was soo tired and we walked the way again and again.
30 mins later we FOUND IT!!!
Everybody was so hungry that we headed towards China town where we wanted to try Chinese food.
What a place! I was fascinated by little shops with strange fruits.
...and everywhere there were signs in chinese...
We found one little restaurant where the menu was also in chinese. lol
But the food was rather tasty, but the dish was enormous!
Later we headed towards our last point: Central Park.

I'm on love with place. It was depicted in so many films! "Home Alone 2", "Serendipity"...
But unfortunately we didn't spend a lot of time there...I wish we could've stayed more...
There we tried strange ice cream.. it was ice with some juice.. and if you wanna eat it you should.. suck the juice)

This place is really important for our family, 'cause in 1974 my grandparents, my uncle and my dad used to live near this place.
It was time to get back home, but on our way home my uncle decided to show us some attractions..
...and we faced some problems connected with traffic. Trafic jams...
Damn! There are so many common things :)
When we were finally at home, nobody wanted to eat... just sleep...

my first day in New York

here we go! a trip to New York which we waited for soooo long!
we had flight at 10.30. that's why after evening shift i had to wake up at 6.30. i was so tired, but less than 24 hours later i would be in New York!
we had a flight from Domodedovo. what a pleasant surprise to see my friends there. they had a flight from the same airport to Dominican Republic at 11.20.
My mom and I had a really funny neighbour. Actually he was rather cute. He had a flight from Moscow, but he was from China. And during the flight he didn't say a world. Arriving in New York (or basically in any other American city) you should fill 2 forms. That guy was surprised to have Russian version of that form and it would take ages to get English version. That's why i decided to help him.
After we landed we had to face a HUGE queue for passport check. 1 hour of waiting... And here we are! A man who checked our passports didn't ask us any questions. That's was strange.. After i understood why. He started chatting with us and... guess what... He had been to St.Petersbourg in the end of June! We were chatting about his trip, about the difference between Moscow and St.Petersbourg. Well, there were other people in the queue , so my parents advices me to stop asking questions:)
When we went out we realised that our uncle wasn't there and we didn't know how to cntact him. Awesome, innit? After 10-hours flight we had to wait for uncle for one more hour. Actually that hour was enough for me to release that we are in NY! Different languages, different nationalities.
One hour later we were heading toward our home! Finally! A flat where we are staying is rather nice. 2 rooms, bathroom, living room with little kitchen. I sleep in the room with TV. *yahoo!*
Our street
10 mins from our flat there is metro station and lots of Russian shops (p.s. if you ever come here it's better not to speak Russian here)
Latter we decided to dine out somewhere (actually it's better to say ANYWHERE). After 20 mins of searching for "the right place" ('cause i'm not a big fan of kebabs and all that things) we decided to stop by pizza place.
There we had one BIG pizza and i decided to try a new drink. Canada Dry (Ginger Taste). Well, 2 out of 5.
After diner we headed toward the ocean.. yeah, that one :)
I was sooo excited to see it.
What i saw was.. impressive. Huge beach, people were everywhere (mostly in swimming suits). There was a big party near the shore. The water was warm, but for my mom it was "too cold". But i really love it.
What's more it's just 10 mins from our flat.
...and there is Strabucks near our flat. yeah!
After this day i was so tired that i forgot to switch off TV. Today is a new day and new plans
